Hubby and Me

This guest post from Walter Horn

My husband had been looking online at http://www.cabletvadvisor.com/ and I think it’s a really great idea. He’s not sold yet because we’re trying to save money on all our utilities but my argument to him is that he goes to sports bars just about every weekend to catch some game we don’t already get on our home TV and that costs us a lot of money in food and beer and all that so it would all even out in the end. I actually kind of think he likes going to the sports bars and that he doesn’t want to give it up but you know, we’ve been married for 2 years now and I think it’s time he settled down and stopped gallivanting around like it’s no big deal. I love him to death but his obsession with “boys nights” and watching every single NFL game strikes me as something he should have grown out of when he was like 16. He’s 34 going on 17, really, and though I love him I’m not going to put up with it!

Is NoMoreRack A Scam?

I have read several articles online about a nomorerack scam. Granted, there are quite a few scams out there but this is definitely not one of them. I, personally, have not ordered anything from them. However, I do have several friends and family members that have bought products from them with no issues whatsoever.

NoMoreRack has awesome deals that can save you a lot of money. I like the fact that they even have a charity deal of the day where they donate the proceeds to a designated charity. Not many deal sites do this and this is a huge point in their favor.

If you still have any doubts, search for nomorerack reviews and see all of the good things people have to say about them. I know that my friend read quite a few reviews before she purchased anything. She wanted to make sure she was not getting a raw deal. After reading the great reviews, she decided to make a purchase and has made several more purchases since then.

New Year, New Me

This year, I hope to do better with my life. I want to get my house organized and CLEAN! Prior to when I hurt my back several years ago, my house was immaculate. Now I am lucky if I can get the laundry done.

Washing dishes, sweeping, mopping and other things I always did effortlessly are no longer easy to do. It really gets depressing knowing that you can’t do anything. It is also hard for my 4 year old to understand why momma can’t do very many things. So, I am hoping to do a little at a time and get things in order around here. I am determined to have a clean house again.

Looking Into It

This guest post from Hong Alexander

I started looking into wireless internet providers Alhambra had to offer and I was just lost – I don’t know a darn thing about technology. I don’t know a gigabyte from a terabyte but luckily for me my son’s practically a computer genius. He’s the one who told me we needed wireless in the first place so I was trying to be a good dad but I ended up just telling him to figure out the best solution for us. He’s actually built his own website and he’s sending in all kinds of projects to be reviewed by colleges already to see if he can get some kind of scholarship – did I mention he’s only 14? I think it’s amazing what he’s able to do with a computer but sometimes it makes me feel kind of dumb. I felt like a smart guy before technology took over our lives but right now I think I’m more in the hole than I was before. I’ve asked him to teach me some stuff but he says I’m a lost cause.

Getting A Bad Car

Several years ago, my sister bought a brand new mini van. After driving it for several months, she started having problems with the tires and drive-train. After numerous trips to the dealership for repairs with no results, she contacted several California Lemon law lawyers to see if they could help her out. She has 5 kids and really depends on her vehicle to get her wherever she or my nieces and nephews needed to go.

Fortunately for her the California Lemon Law attorneys were able to help her get a new vehicle within a few months of legal procedures. It turned out that the van she had gotten was definitely a lemon and qualified for replacement due to the problems it was having.

My sister is now able to get her kids to their sports activities, school and scout meetings with no problem. It was fortunate for her that she was able to get the help she needed. Many people do not realize that there are laws that protect them when they buy a vehicle. If you know of anyone that is having the same problems over and over, especially after it has been repaired, be sure to let them know that there are laws to protect them.

Missing Daddy

Yesterday would have been Daddy’s 86th birthday. I really miss that man. I was always Daddy’s little girl. He always brought me something when he would come home from a job. He worked out of town and would be gone for days at a time. He never forgot me though. I would run to the door and jump up and down excitedly when he came home.

He always took us camping and on vacations. He even took us to Disney when we were on vacation one time. I remember getting stranded in the snow up north, him falling out of the boat when he was fishing, etc. Every year around Halloween, he would have Fudgie fits. LOL! Kraft had some candy that was like caramels only they were called Fudgies. He loved those candies and would lay in the floor and roll around saying he was having a fudgie fit. It was quite hilarious.

We lost Daddy in July of 2010. I really wish things could have been different with my family. Ever since Dad got sick, our family has fallen apart. I miss my family.

Oh Christmas Tree

We finally put our Christmas tree up last weekend. Normally, we put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving. Due to inclement weather that weekend, we had to wait until the next weekend to see if we could find a decent looking live tree in the woods on some land my family owns. Unfortunately, due to the horrible drought this past year, we were unable to find a decent looking tree. So, out of the attic came the artificial tree.

My 4 year old son was amazed that we had a tree that came out of the box in pieces. He helped us get the colors sorted out so we could put it together. He was in awe-all he had ever seen were the live trees we usually put up. We finally got it together and it looked pretty good for an artificial tree. Next up were the lights. We put the lights on the tree and followed them with the ornaments that we had purchased earlier in the year. We have quite an array of ornaments: craft ornaments made by my stepchildren, military ornaments, light up ornaments, and the regular old plastic ball ornaments.

Are you ready for the xmas holiday season? I am definitely ready. My family loves the Christmas holidays. We get to spend time with our family and attend church to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Are You Ready?

I am so NOT ready for Christmas. I have the tree up and a few gifts to put under the tree. I need to clean up my house, wrap the gifts, and a few other last minute details. I just am not feeling it this year. I guess I am turning into a scrooge. Well, maybe not really a scrooge, but with the inability to do much of anything due to back pain, it makes me not want to do anything at all. It can be really annoying.

It seems like there is always something else to do. Heck, we never even got the outside lights put up this year. I don’t see it happening either. The weather has been pretty dreary-rainy and cold. Don’t wanna do anything at all. Maybe next year, I will get it all together.

My Niece’s House Burned

Unfortunately for my niece, her house burned down several months ago. Her husband had gone home to take a shower and get ready for their upcoming vacation. After getting out of the shower, he heard popping noises in the garage. He opened the door to discover that his Tahoe had caught on fire. The whole garage was engulfed in flames. After it was all said and done, the house was a total loss. My niece was devastated. This was her dream house and it was gone. They were able to save a few things-but not everything. Several neighbors and friends showed up and they quickly started grabbing things and getting as much as they could out of the house.

They contacted one of the local fire damage contractors austin to get their now disrupted lives back in order. There was furniture to be cleaned and a house to be rebuilt. After a few months, they were allowed to move back into their home. They actually got to be home by Thanksgiving. Lucky for them, there are companies like  http://www.thesteamteam.com/ that can take over the task of getting a fire damaged home back to normal.

My New (to me) Bed

I finally got a new bed! Fortunately for me, I joined a local group on Facebook where people get rid of their old stuff. After being on there for several weeks, someone posted a king sized mattress and box springs for $100. I was so excited. The way the group works is that the very first person to say “I want it” gets the item. I jumped in and said that I wanted it. I went to get it yesterday and last night was a great night. I actually slept without feeling like I was falling out of the bed. Now, I have to find some king-sized sheets and blankets since my so-called family did not give mine back to me after my dad passed away. I am hoping I can find some on the Facebook group for a reasonable price.
